Description

KNF Neuberger, Inc. is an international engineering and manufacturing organization, specializing in high quality pumps and compressors, with an excellent reputation in the medical device, research and environmental industries.

We are looking to hire a Staff Engineer for our Hamilton (just outside of Trenton), NJ location. We need an experienced Mechanical or Electrical engineer to customize diaphragm pumps. This person should demonstrate excellent teamwork and collaboration skills within a cross functional engineering team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, enthusiastic team player with strong problem solving abilities. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your strengths in product customization and design using both analytical and experimental tools.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Work closely with sales and marketing and customers to design / select appropriate pump models to be offered for specific customer applications.
  • Work closely with production personnel to troubleshoot problems with production.   Troubleshoot problems associated with hardware returned from the field.  Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for such hardware problems.
  • Modify existing base pump designs to meet specific customer flow rate, vacuum, life expectancy, and cost targets.
  • Work concurrently with test technicians to test new design concepts and validate proof of concepts.
  • Analyze test data using statistical and analytical methods.
  • Prepare design layouts and drawings using Pro Engineer modeling software.  Prepare bills of materials in SAP.
  • Act as the responsible design engineer for a defined set of catalog pump models.  Maintain drawings and bill of materials associated with basic pump models. 
  • Interface directly with supply chain, manufacturing, and vendors as required to maintain pump configuration and costs.
  • Select motors, bearings, and elastomers from an existing knowledge base to meet intended performance, current draw, and life expectancy.
  • Work closely with production personnel to troubleshoot problems with production.   Troubleshoot problems associated with hardware returned from the field.  Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for such hardware problems.
Skills and Experience
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Electrical Engineering experience, as it relates to AC motors, DC motors, and motor controllers.  Basic Understanding of Electrical Engineering Fundamentals
  • AC and DC Motor design / operating experience
  • At least 5-7 years of demonstrated product development experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing fundamentals
  • Knowledge of machining processes
  • Knowledge of materials and finishes
